Visual Communications(VC)’s mission is to develop and support the voices of Asian American & Pacific Islander filmmakers and media artists who empower communities and challenge perspectives. I worked here during the summer of 2017 as the Programs Associate. This meant that I
- Filmed and produced artist interviews to promote VC programs
- Worked with the Director of Programs and Artist Services to coordinate programming for film fellowships and conferences
One of my primary responsibilities for the internship was to assist with marketing for the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival that VC hosted every year. This meant I researched and presented on different PR stunts, advertising techniques, and well as communication methods for staff and interactive advertising media. My second responsibility was communicating with artists through Artist Services. I filmed and produced advertising material for the senior citizen artists project Digital Histories and the film fellowship Armed With a Camera.
